Tattoo Aftercare Guide
Proper aftercare is what makes the difference between a tattoo that thrives and one that fades. Follow these steps to protect your investment and keep your ink looking its best.
While Healing
Avoid wearing skin tight clothing over the tattoo
Protect it from the sun by wearing sun protective clothing. Do not apply sunscreen until it is fully healed
Avoid swimming or immersing yourself in water (showers are fine)
Do not scratch or rub the tattoo
If you were given Second Skin
Leave it on for 2 to 7 days depending on how long it naturally sticks. A build up of blood or plasma (ink sack) is completely normal. Please resist the urge to play with it to avoid leaks or bursting. To remove: pull the corner of the film up and slowly pull to stretch it out.
If you were given Cling Wrap
- Leave it on for 3 to 5 hours
- Give it a good wash, be gentle and use unscented soap
- Do not re-wrap once it has been removed
After the wrap has been removed
Wash the tattoo gently once or twice a day with warm water and a fragrance free soap.
After removal, wait 1 to 2 days before applying your chosen aftercare product or balm, a few times a day. Do not let your tattoo dry out too much.

Numbing Cream
Important: please consult with your artist before applying any numbing cream. Your artist can advise on the best approach for your specific tattoo and skin type.
You are welcome to use numbing cream, however we do not supply it. Please be aware that numbing agents change the way skin reacts during tattooing. As a result, if numbing cream is used we cannot guarantee the work and our standard free 3 month touch up policy will not apply. If you are happy to proceed on this basis, that is absolutely fine.
